First one on one

I recently read this post about Questions to ask on the first 1:1 with a new employee. I must say that only from reading the topic I had a sense I won't like what i'd read and in fact I found a big problem with the writer's approach. This kind of questions belong on the 3rd or 4th 1:1. Not on the first one, and definitely not in an interrogation form like it's presented.

It's important to get the answer for these questions but it should come at the form of getting to know the person, and not "getting data" about them.

First 1:1 should be about establishing trust, giving direction and some context. That's it.
